Re: ManU fans quoting £40m for Lingard
£20M about right, would probably pay £25M as he has been that fucking good

We need to get Jesse to push for it if he wants to come here permanently and then get it done asap, other clubs will be sniffing if we dick around

Wouldnt be surprised tho if OGS wants him back and play a part next season. If i was him id offload Mata on big wages and have Lingard as one of the options in the 3 behind the striker

Re: ManU fans quoting £40m for Lingard
More likely the garbage will attempt a swap deal for Rice with Lingard + money, can't imagine Lingard would want to join us if Rice left. In fact retaining Rice must be the key to us bringing in any decent players, as said elsewhere Lingard is in a strong position to control his next move.

Re: ManU fans quoting £40m for Lingard
More of a £40m player for us than Sebastien fucking Haller was and that’s for sure

Transfer talk is always bollocks just as £80m for Rice is. I’d say Rice would fetch 50-60 and Lingard 20-25

Can you imagine our board doing that:

Our board: "Psst! Jesse, buy yourself out of your contract and we'll cover the cost if you join us."

*Lingard buys himself free.*

Lingard" "OK, done, where do I sign?"

Our Board: :Ha Ha! What a Mug! We had veinites all along. Now fuck off,: *keeps money in sky-rocket.*

Think we also need to be careful. He’s playing out of his skin as (a) he has something to prove and (b) pushing to get into the England squad. Signs for a big free and contract that sees him out to retirement or his twilight years and his performance drops. Seen it before. Doesn’t meant we shouldn’t do it but not at the expense of other areas

Re: ManU fans quoting £40m for Lingard
Man Utd - club, not fans, wanted around £20m in January. Our owners decided they wanted to loan first, but couldn’t negotiate an agreed price to buy like they did with Dawson.

Lingard performs brilliantly and has therefore gone up in value in the eyes of his parent club, unsurprisingly.

West Ham will see that he has 1 year left on his contract so £20m will be a fair price.

Man Utd will no doubt find other clubs interested and will be pushing for £40+

Lingard can push for the team he wants, as he has the option of waiting until next January/summer to move on a free... but at his age he won’t want to.

Reality will be somewhere in all of that and the signing team will get him for around £30m. Whether that is us will be down to our owners.

Either way, what Man Utd fans are quoting, has got nothing to do with it.

Re: ManU fans quoting £40m for Lingard
Could he buy himself out of his contract? Say he's on 100 k a week, could he give Man U 5 million for the last year of his contract and then walk away as a few agent this summer, with us giving him a bumper signing on fee to compensate?

It doesn't feel like that's right (otherwise every player would do it), but if not why not?

Re: ManU fans quoting £40m for Lingard
They only get 40m if he signs a contract extension first.

With a year to go he could buy himself out of his contract couldnt he and move on a free?

Who did Man U fans value at 25 million only in January?

Re: ManU fans quoting £40m for Lingard
Why shouldn't Lingard be valued at £40 million? After all, the club spent (wasted) £25 million only in January on 25 year old who plays in the same position and offers NOTHING by way of goal threat.

I didn’t realise they were part of the negotiations.

I'd just tell them to fuck off and come back when they've rejoined the real world.

The days of Man U pushing the football world around have long gone (except in the eyes of their fans and the MSM).

Re: ManU fans quoting £40m for Lingard
Are they quoting silly money to try and get the price of Rice down ?

Do we accept £40 mill and Lingard for Rice ? Making it £80 mill for Rice

I can't see Lingard on anything more than a 3 year contract before his pace goes.

Is Lingard playing out of his skin to have 1 final chance of winning something for England

If Rice goes who replaces him ?

Personally If they using Lingard as a part payment for Rice I would say £10 mill (twice the loan few we paid for half a season)

Re: ManU fans quoting £40m for Lingard
Lingard is holding all the aces here (which must royally piss off the rich and famous).

1. The default is he goes back to his original club and gets paid to sit on the bench for a year, as before.

2. He has impressed enough to win a place in the Man U squad, so gets first team football.

3. Man U bean-counters decide to cash in before his contract runs down; he can then wait for an offer that suits him (may be us, may be another club, that's down to him).

I don't think he "owes" us anything - he was given a chance and showed the world how to act when so given. His future is now back in his own hands (or feet).

If Pogba stays with them, Lingard will stay with us. Even Neville touched on it the other night and Carragher called him out, and Neville clammed up.

They won't get £40m in a million years.he has one year on his contract.

Re: ManU fans quoting £40m for Lingard
The operative word here is “The Fans” as with all clubs the fans get a bit deluded when it comes to the value of there players, mind you its only a few months ago a good portion of them were slagging Lingard and urging the club to get him and his wages off the books, not good enough etc etc, would have maybe urged Ole and co to bite off the hand of anyone who offered a few million? Now suddenly they want a king’s ransom for him……..

Hahahaha
